The government of Maharashtra has allowed the Associate members along with original member to attend General Body Meetings of Co-operative Housing Societies on following conditions :
1. If a member of cooperative housing society being a senior citizen or due to old age or due to infirmity can attend a General Body meeting of cooperative housing society accompanied by his associate member for his help. Thus both are allowed to participate in the deliberations of the said meeting; however, if a questions arises for voting then only original member can vote, an associate member shall not have right to vote.
2. If an associate member attends such meeting in the absence of the original member, he can participate in the deliberation of the General Body Meeting and also vote if he is authorized to vote by the original member.
3. In course of discussion if both differ on an issue, then views of original members will prevail.
